Medium to high gain, Hand-wired
“ONE THING IS FOR CERTAIN:
THIS AMP HAS AN ABUNDANCE OF BALLS”
The BBB-30 is a medium to high gain, all hand-wired guitar amplifier. It was designed with overdrive in mind – the Treble Middle & Bass tone controls rein in the grunt after the main gain stages, making it perfect for rock & blues players alike.
Normal gain gives you a bit of a growl starting from 12 o’clock. Switch in the Boost overdrive to give it some real dirt.
The overdrive can be tuned to come in anywhere from concise and articulate for intricate leads and solos, to deep and doomy obliterating fatness.
The normal / clean transition into break-up has been carefully worked out, and the transition to boost overdrive has been made as smooth as possible, using tone matching controls.
The amp is available in point-to-point, turret board, and/or modular PCB construction, and is the most expanded and customised amp that we make. Modules that are commonly fitted are Send – Return / FX Loop, Attenuated Line-Out and Reso control.
BBB-30 UL Studio
Studios have, almost invariably, have gone for this design; people like extra switches. The switches make it an immensely versatile utility amp, whose character can be changed at the flick of a switch. The dynamics, tonal response, breakup and distortion harmonics can be completely altered on this astounding multi-mode amplifier.
The UltraLinear taps are configured to control the power at low volumes, but still keeping the depth.
Features of BBB-30UL
- Bold / Bright for Normal drive
- Deep for Boost / Overdrive
- Presence on/off – switches off Negative Feedback, loses presence control, but increases power
- Bias – allows you to monitor cathode and adjust fixed bias via the 2x 2mm sockets
- Cathode / Fixed Bias – switches between these modes
- SE / PP – Single-ended mode disables one output valve, halves the power and allows even harmonic distortion, push-pull gives a more smooth and powerful class A or AB mode
- Half / Full power – actually defers overdrive to either the Phase Inverter or output valves
- UltraLinear taps are configured to control the power at low volumes, but still keeping the depth, these can be set to very low power
- Line-out – tapped from the speaker output
- 4/8/16 ohm speaker switch to parallel outputs
Features of the BBB-30 signature
- VVT Big Iron transformers
- 5881 output valves
- Fixed bias push-pull operation
- NFB flat response, with Presence
- Tight control of bottom end
- Rotary “Deep” switch on Dirty channel
- Dedicated 8 and 16Ω output jacks
- Optional Send – Return FX loop
