TODP standard Series 5-V

This is for 1 of 2 currently available pedals, fitted with Series 5 (white) boards, with extended gain and filter cut ranges, compared with previous builds. These also have the -V mil-spec tubes fitted, and are ready for dispatch.

These will only be available to order for delivery in Australia, Canada, Japan and the USA. If you are in business the UK, the EU or Europe, please get in touch using the contact form here: /contact-us/

The TODP (Tube Overdrive Distortion Plus) is a veritable toolkit of overdrive and distortion, which can give you a huge range of breakup from a soft tube clip, to full-on metal or punk distortion, with all kinds or blues and rock options in the middle. *

There are pre-cut and post-boost options for the low end, which can be used together to give a more mid oriented break up in the tube. The high end can be tamed with passive Filter control pot.

All 6 settings utilise the tube device, with increasingly more noticeable tube effect, as you go from germanium to ABN:

  • 3x “hard clipping” diode distortion settings: 70s / germanium, 80s / silicon and 90s / LED
  • 3x tube (valve) overdrive settings: AB2 – where you can hear the 2x silicon diodes affect the break up, AB4 – where the 4x silicon diodes are largely inaudible, or ABN – where the compression is controlled in a classic 50s / 60s way

This particular pedal features the standard “Toxic” graphic, co-designed, painted, and printed by the Somerset based artist Mutartis.**

The Soviet era thermionic valve / tube and germanium diodes in the TODP have not been RoHS tested and certified, and hence it does not meet EU RoHS 1. This does not fall under the scope within the relevant act in New York State, and is not a covered item (mainly computer monitors) in California, and hence should be allowed. If you are unsure about whether this allowed in your country or state, please contact us before ordering, as we will not be held responsible for compliance once the pedal has been dispatched.

* amount of distortion and overdrive will depend on many factors, including gain range of pedal, guitar setup, and pick-up types. The gain assignment for this release is Wide-Range (1M). The wider range of these offers a more “transparent” overdrive at lower gains, though this should still be thought of a Distortion effect. Four of the modes create distortion mainly by overdriving a thermionic rod type valve (or tube).

** colours and print quality will vary; the theme is painted and printed to give this variation.

First order bass cut (220Hz default)

Clipping options

Germanium, silicon and LED clipping diodes to 2, 4 or no anti-blocking diodes on the tube

47KΩ hi clip, 200KΩ low clip, or 100KΩ middle

Recovery boost EQ

First order bass boost (default 220Hz and 80Hz)

Recovery boost 6db / 0dB / 12dB

Used to recover volume after, especially germanium and silicon, clipping crushes the signal, or can be used to slam the signal, to add op amp clipping to the mix

White (series 5), a 29-V power valve / tube is fitted on the near / solder side of the board.
